Delta One to Hawaii?! Yes Please!

Delta One to Hawaii?! Yes Please!

On a recent flight from Atlanta to Honolulu, I was given the opportunity to upgrade from main cabin to Delta One. Delta One is Delta Airline’s business class that’s offered on long haul international flights as well as long haul domestic flights……Atlanta to Honolulu. This upgrade was not free nor was it “cheap” but since it was just myself flying, I went for it!

Included in the upgrade is access to the Delta Sky Club and Atlanta has a great one. Naturally I had to check it out to get in the full experience. Research y’all. ;-)

Why “YES”, I will have a Bloody Mary and a light breakfast while I relax for a bit before heading to my gate.

The bathroom here in the Sky Club is just awesome! Weird thing to point out but if you’ve seen some of the airport bathrooms that I’ve seen, you would be thrilled with this one.

Delta One boards before everyone else, of course, and while I was a bit late because I was hanging out and chatting with Kacie, once I boarded it was like the angels were singing! I joke but it was pretty incredible!

My bag was quickly stowed in the bin above MY seat and was immediately given a noise canceling headset, a Tumi bag with travel essentials (tooth brush, lip balm, socks, mouth wash, sleep mask, etc) a menu and was offered a drink. YES, please! Drink options included a rum punch with chunks of pineapple…..who was I to say no to that?!

The big sell for me, is that the seat lies flat so that you can sleep on long haul flights. While I didn’t sleep a ton, I certainly enjoyed laying back and watching in flight movies while snuggled up with my Westin bedding and a larger pillow.

I received an email a few days prior to my flight asking which meal I would prefer for dinner. There was a vegetarian pasta dish, a chicken dish, and a beef tenderloin option which I chose. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food I was served. Everything was very tasty!

It varies by flight destination, but I was served warm nuts, dinner, then I had the option of dessert or a cheese plate ( I chose cheese), and then an “almost there” meal of which I had the option of a Reuben sandwich or a chicken and orzo salad. I was also presented with chocolate covered macadamia nuts before getting off the plane. YUM!

Delta One has dedicated flight attendants and they make sure your every need is taken care of! During dinner, I was offered a red or a white wine, neither of which I really wanted. I asked about a Pinot Noir and was told by my awesome flight attendant (Sammie) that she would take a look. She checked and found a lovely bottle of Pinot which I enjoyed entirely too much of during the flight. You will seriously never have an empty glass during the flight. This is great as long as long you don’t need to do any driving upon landing. Luckily, I did not! Kacie was our designated driver. haha

Atlanta to Honolulu is about a 10 hour flight but I can honestly say that it did not feel that long. I was able to rest comfortably, enjoy great in flight entertainment with noise cancelling headphones, and I never had to worry about being hungry or thirsty. Would I fly Delta One again? Absolutely! There was no down side for me. Well, other than not flying home in Delta One. :-(

I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait until I can get on a plane again! Will you treat yourself to a flight upgrade?
